Club History
The Ellenbrook Senior Football Club was established in 2002 on the back of initial interest from three local residents Vaughan Roberts, Ben Franks & Troy Newick. The Club competes in the Perth Football League (PFL) with 3 senior mens teams , 1 women’s team and a colts team. The Masters (over 35's) play every second Sunday and are a vital part of our growing club.
With Ellenbrook being such a young suburb in the Swan Valley, the club prides itself on being a “family based club” with regular events including family gala day, Auskick half time matches and the Saturday night family dinners.
The Club is based at the Ellenbrook District Open Space, Maffina Parade, Ellenbrook.
2011 was the clubs 10 year anniversary and yielded the clubs first flag with the reserves taking out the C4 Reserves Grand Final. This was backed up in 2012, 2014 & 2017 with the club claiming the C3 reserves flags. The colts became flag winners as well in the 2016 West Coast Eagles Colts division.
In 2024 the club was elevated into the C2 division, where league just missed out on finals, the colts made it into the first week and the reserves the grand final Unfortunately no flag but a good first season in C2 none the less..
Our Heritage
The Club Song
Written by Justine & Vaughan Roberts
Ellenbrook is mighty and we’re full of Aussie pride
We’ll take the marks and score the goals
And kick their wretched hides
When they try and take us on we’ll nail them to the floor
Ellenbrook your heroes
And we’re here to make you…..ROAR
Champions forever cos the spirit never dies
We chase that dream of victory
To hold the cup up high
So open up the bar boys we’ll celebrate some more
Ellenbrook your heroes
And we’re here to make you…..ROAR
The Jumper
The Eels playing jumper came about, like us, by means of evolution. When the inaugural side ran out in the first game in 2001 they were wearing Footscray Jumpers which were loaned to them by the league that the club was in at the time, the Mercantile. Melbourne jumpers were also used until about half way through the season until LWP bought a set of Fremantle jumpers for the boys to play in. This was because the Juniors were playing in Freo jumpers and LWP wanted the Seniors to be the same. These were also used in the 2002 season.
In 2003, one of the then players Ray Cappeau, designed our current jumper. As you can see from the image, the bulk of it is dark blue and the Eelslogo is in the same colour scheme as the early Fremantle logo.
This represents where the club is now but still remembers our origin.
Our Home Ground
The Eels currently play at the Ellenbrook District Open Space, otherwise known as “The DOS” although this wasn’t always the case.
Originally training was at Woodlake Oval and the games were played at Baskerville Oval.
Coolamon Oval became the new base of operations in 2003 with the club using transportable changerooms until the clubroom were finished in 2005.
At the start of the 2016 season the shift was made to the new complex on Maffina Parade, the DOS. With 2 full size ovals (plus a half oval) night game capable, there is plenty of room for the club as it grows.
